PitchTrack and Plateau United launch pilot partnership to support data-driven football performance.
PitchTrack, a sports analytics product of Kam Labs Ltd, has entered a pilot partnership with Plateau United Football Club to support more informed match review, tactical preparation, and player-performance analysis through practical football data.
Kam Labs Ltd is pleased to announce a pilot partnership between PitchTrack and Plateau United Football Club, one of Nigeria’s established professional football teams.
Through this pilot, PitchTrack will support the coverage and analysis of Plateau United’s home matches. The collaboration is designed to help the club’s technical team access structured insights that can contribute to post-match review, tactical planning, player development, and better-informed football decisions.
The partnership brings together a club competing in Nigeria’s top-flight football environment and a locally built sports-technology product focused on making performance analytics more practical, accessible, and useful for teams.
Importantly, this is a pilot engagement: an opportunity for both PitchTrack and Plateau United to work closely, learn from real match environments, understand the club’s evolving needs, and refine the use of analytics in ways that serve the people responsible for performance on the pitch.
About Plateau United
Plateau United Football Club of Jos is a professional Nigerian football club based in Jos, Plateau State. The club competes in the Nigeria Premier Football League, Nigeria’s highest level of domestic club football. Plateau United’s history is commonly traced to 1975, when the team was established as JIB Strikers before later becoming known as Plateau United.
The club has built an important place within Nigerian football, particularly through its connection to Plateau State and its passionate football community in Jos. Plateau United won the Nigerian league title in the 2016/17 season, a landmark achievement in the club’s history.
As the club continues to compete in the demanding environment of the NPFL, access to relevant performance information can play an increasingly valuable role in helping technical teams prepare for matches, review outcomes, understand patterns of play, and support individual player growth.
The need for better performance insight
Football decisions are often made under intense pressure and within limited preparation windows. Coaches and technical teams must evaluate opponents, review previous performances, identify tactical patterns, assess player contributions, and communicate clear priorities to the squad — often with incomplete or inconsistent data.
For many clubs, the challenge is not a lack of football knowledge. Coaches, analysts, and players bring deep experience, instinct, and tactical understanding to the game. The challenge is ensuring that this knowledge can be supported by reliable information gathered from matches and presented in a form that is useful for decision-making.
Common challenges include:
- Limited access to consistent match and player-performance data.
- Heavy reliance on manual observations and time-consuming video review.
- Difficulty converting what is seen during a match into measurable, trackable insights.
- Limited historical performance records that can support player development conversations.
- The need to prepare more quickly and confidently for tactical adjustments, opposition analysis, and future fixtures.
- A growing demand for evidence-based performance conversations across coaching, recruitment, player development, and club management.
PitchTrack is being developed to help address these practical needs. Its purpose is not to replace the judgment of coaches or reduce football to numbers. Rather, it aims to help clubs organise match information, identify meaningful patterns, and give technical teams an additional evidence base for the decisions they already make every day.
What the pilot will cover
During the pilot partnership, PitchTrack will support the analysis of Plateau United’s home matches, with a focus on generating useful performance insights for the club’s technical environment.
The work will include structured match coverage and the collection of relevant football data points that can help create a clearer picture of team and player performance. Depending on the agreed workflow and needs of the technical team, insights may cover match events, phases of play, team patterns, tactical observations, player contributions, and areas for further review.
The pilot is expected to support:
- Match coverage and performance data capture during Plateau United home fixtures.
- Post-match analysis that helps structure observations from the game.
- Team-level insights that can support tactical review and preparation.
- Player-level observations that can contribute to development and performance conversations.
- Identification of patterns across matches, including areas of strength, pressure points, and opportunities for improvement.
- Match reports and performance summaries designed to make information easier for the technical team to review and apply.
The maps and charts below are real PitchTrack output, taken from a full match the rig recorded and processed end to end — Ajester FA against Gimbiya FA. They are shown here as an illustration of the reporting format; they are not Plateau United data. The complete report is published as the tactical analysis.
The value of this process lies in turning match activity into clearer questions and more useful conversations. For example, rather than relying only on a general impression that a team struggled to retain possession or create chances in a certain phase of play, the technical team can use structured match insights to investigate where, when, and how those patterns occurred.
These insights can then support targeted coaching discussions, more focused training priorities, sharper match preparation, and stronger post-match learning.
“This pilot with Plateau United is an important opportunity to test PitchTrack in a live professional football environment and ensure that the product is genuinely useful to the people making decisions around the game. Our aim is to provide practical performance insights that support coaches, technical teams, and players — not to overwhelm them with data.”

Analytics as a football tool
The most effective use of analytics in football is collaborative. Data has value when it is interpreted within the context of the match, the opponent, the coach’s tactical plan, the players available, and the realities of competition.
PitchTrack’s approach recognises that numbers alone do not explain football. A performance statistic may indicate a pattern, but experienced coaches and technical teams provide the context needed to interpret what happened and decide what should happen next.
For Plateau United, the pilot will therefore be built around the club’s football priorities and the practical realities of its matchday and technical workflow. PitchTrack will work to ensure that insights are relevant, timely, and understandable — supporting existing expertise rather than creating unnecessary complexity.
“Football is constantly evolving, and any tool that can help our technical team review matches more clearly, understand performance patterns, and support the development of our players is worth exploring. We look forward to working with PitchTrack during this pilot and seeing how analytics can add value to our football process.”

Building for Nigerian football
The partnership reflects Kam Labs Ltd’s broader commitment to building practical technology solutions for sport, talent development, and performance ecosystems across Nigeria and Africa.
PitchTrack is being developed with the belief that football analytics should not be limited to the world’s wealthiest leagues or only available to clubs with extensive international budgets. African clubs, coaches, players, and technical teams deserve tools that reflect local realities while meeting the growing need for structured performance intelligence.
By working directly with clubs such as Plateau United, PitchTrack can develop in close conversation with the people who understand the game best. This creates an opportunity to build technology that responds to real needs: from match analysis and player development to tactical preparation and long-term performance tracking.
The pilot also signals the importance of stronger connections between football, data, technology, and local innovation. As the sports industry continues to evolve, African football has an opportunity not only to adopt new performance tools, but also to shape and build them.
Looking ahead
PitchTrack and Plateau United are excited to begin this pilot and explore the role that structured match analytics can play in supporting the club’s performance objectives.
Over the course of the collaboration, the teams will learn from the match environment, evaluate the usefulness of the insights generated, and identify opportunities to improve the product and workflow. The goal is to develop an approach that fits the realities of professional football while helping the technical team make more informed decisions.
For Kam Labs Ltd, this is another step toward building sports-technology solutions that are grounded in practical use, designed with users, and capable of supporting stronger athlete and team performance across the continent.
For Plateau United, the pilot represents an opportunity to explore an additional tool for analysis, preparation, learning, and continuous improvement.
